DRUTEX supports the youngest entrants into the black sport
DRUTEX SA is the sponsor of the Golden Boy Trophy – a speedway tournament for Zenon Plech Cup. The youngest entrants into the black sport will take part in it, including the current European champion Mikkel Andersen.
The competition takes place on 25 June at the Gdansk mini speedway, next to the speedway stadium of Wybrzeże Gdańsk. The participants will be boys aged 10-14, competing on motorcycles with 80-125 cm3 capacity.
- Our involvement in speedway was initiated by the Great Champion, Mr. Zenon Plech. We are happy to have the possibility to join in his benefit concert connected with his 65th birthday, as well as the Europe Cup in mini speedway in 2020, dedicated to the youngest entrants into black sport. We couldn’t miss the event also this year. Therefore, we decided to be the Elite Sponsor of the „Golden Boy Trophy”, a tournament for the Zenon Plech Cup - said Adam Leik, marketing director at Drutex SA.
The name of the tournament refers to the nickname that was given to Z. Plech by the fans all over the world. This prize-winning, one of the best speedway riders in Polish and world history of the black sport, died in November 2020. – Our participation in the competition is a tribute to him, as well as support for rivalry of children and teenagers that is close to us since the beginning of the company. The organizer of the tournament is Krystian Plech, Z. Plech’s son, connected with sport for ages: - We are delighted that DRUTEX is with us again. On 23 June we want to propose the celebration of all fathers with sports. The participants, apart from numerous attractions, will learn about the outstanding master – the Golden Boy of speedway. Young contestants will compete for his trophy – says Krystian Plech the organizer of the competition.
The honorary patrons of the Golden Boy Trophy are individual speedway world champions Tomasz Gollob, who won the title in 2010, and 2019 and 2020 champion Bartosz Zmarzlik. They will be in the company of an excellent ex-footballer and currently the president of the Polish Football Association and UEFA vice-president Zbigniew Boniek.
